The LMT MARS-L 12" Shovelnose is a 5.56 NATO short-barreled rifle (SBR) built around the LMT Monolithic Rail Platform (MRP) and a short-stroke gas piston operating system. The upper receiver and handguard are machined from a single aluminum forging, creating a rigid monolithic chassis with a continuous 1913 Picatinny top rail and multiple M-LOK attachment points for accessories. The rifle features a 12-inch piston-driven barrel with a two-position adjustable gas system, allowing users to configure the rifle for different ammunition types or suppressed and unsuppressed operation.
This model includes the LMT MARS-L forged ambidextrous lower receiver, which incorporates ambidextrous controls for the safety, magazine release, bolt catch, and bolt release. The platform also utilizes an MRP quick-disconnect barrel system, enabling compatible barrels to be swapped using the receiver’s dual locking bolts. Additional features include a chrome-lined 1:7 twist barrel, enhanced piston bolt carrier group, AXLE two-stage trigger, SOPMOD stock, and M-LOK Shovelnose upper receiver chassis.
