That line-boring step is the real difference-maker - it means the ring caps fit the scope tube's actual diameter precisely, so proper torque specs don't risk denting or stressing the tube the way a slightly-off generic ring can.

Clamping to the rail happens across a full 7 Picatinny sections through 4 shear lugs, using Geissele's nut-and-bolt method instead of a lever - each connection point delivers 1,400 pounds of clamping force, which is a lot more holding power than a lever-based mount can generate.
